Potholes

Potholes

After almost shattering the wheel on my car recently on a crater sized set of potholes on the Silverstream Road connecting Stamullen to Julianstown adjacent to St. John of Gods residence, I immediately contacted Meath County Council and demanded that this outrageous state of disrepair be rectified.
Within 24 hours, the holes were filled in and it is now possible to pass through this stretch of road without fear of damage to our automobiles. If you see a pothole or set of potholes, please contact Meath County Council with immediate effect to raise awareness of these hazards.
Should they not act as expected, please contact me and I will take up your complaint with them on your behalf. I will always work on your behalf.

Playground conclusion.

Playground Repositioning.

I wish to communicate with all residents of Stamullen and indeed East Meath in relation to a proposed playground in Mountain View Estate, Stamullen, Co. Meath.
Whilst canvassing for the pending local elections, I have spoken with thousands of residents, all of whom hold an opinion with regards to both a playground and the broader topic of a general lack of facilities in this area.
I hereby tender my views in connection with this issue and I am available at james@jamescarey.ie or on www.jamescarey.ie to discuss it further.
Residents in this estate have worked admirably, tirelessly and collectively since moving in some thirty two years ago to raise and maintain their environment to a prize winning standard. Resources necessary for these works were gathered by any means available and put to both great and lasting use.
To even contemplate infringing on such a harmonious residential estate, in my opinion shows a council utterly out of touch with the needs of the local residents.
I formally ask the proposers if they would be happy should a playground be constructed metres away from their front door?
A playground and furthermore a swathe of family, children and teenager orientated facilities are desperately needed in Stamullen as the entire populous agrees. However, developing a small corner of an established estate in total disregard of the wishes of all residents is an insensitive proposal.
I will fight against it passionately on behalf of all constituents before, during and after the pending elections.
A superior solution appears to be constructing a dedicated, state of the art parkland, playground and skating facility large enough to serve all users on the new GAA grounds on the Cock Hill Road with access routes resonating outwards to all corners of Stamullen. This will accommodate every household in the area and will not upset a single resident. My pledge is to further this proposal and to turn it into a reality, with your support.
Stamullen has contributed enormous sums in terms of development levies to Meath County Council and I am steadfastly determined to repatriate amounts necessary to raise public services, child, adolescent and family services together with safe foothpaths and streetlighting up to a winning level.
In conclusion, my goal is to channel the energy utilised in opposing this playground into advancing a modern, vast and inclusive facility which is sensitively, collaboratively and sustainably planned. Together we can create a better solution.
James Carey,Your Local County Council Candidate in June. Vote Carey No.1. Thank you.

Carey’s Graffiti Removal Scheme

Carey’s Graffiti Removal Scheme

Dear reader,
I wish to make you aware of a new scheme that I have launched to formally tackle the graffiti problem rampaging throughout our community. The aptly named “Carey’s Graffiti Removal Scheme” harnasses the skills and willingness to help of local people including Paddy Dempsey of “Pure-Clean windows” of Stamullen who performs such works on a permanent basis.
We unite weekly to physically spray down walls which have been vandalised by graffiti. In the absence of Meath County Council support, we are sending out a clear message that we care about our community and will not accept this form of crime.
I suggest that in the new playground & parklands to be constructed on Cockhill road, a designated “Graffiti Wall” be constructed where youths can express their artistic creativity confined to an agreed space as oppose to damaging the property of residents. Nobody is still sure what ‘SFA’ stands for! This outlet will not curb their expression, but will help to prevent criminal damage.
Please view www.jamescarey.ie or call me on 0868453044 if you wish to become involved.
James Carey, Meath County Council Candidate, June.

Playground Victory!

Dear Reader,

I am delighted to announce that victory was witnessed tonight by all attendee's at our meeting to debate the location of our playground. Whilst we all ache for a playground, the resident's of Mountain View Estate, with my support communicated to Meath County Council Representatives that under no circumstances would it be acceptable to construct a playground on their thoroughly well maintained and cherished small grounds.

A clear message has been returned to the proposers. CHOOSE A BETTER SITE.

My suggestion of situation said playground in the new GAA grounds was supported by the general majority, including council representatives and I trust that this or a close alternative will now prevail, allowing Mountain View Residents to return to a situation of calm and certainty.

Thank you for your continued support.

Playground Relocation / Community Alert Launch

February 2009 - Playground Relocation

Playground relocation.

I wish to engage with you in relation the proposed new playground in Mountain View Estate. A decision to construct this was arrived upon without suitable public consultation or expression of opinions from residents. A consensus has been formed that whilst our whole community aches for a long overdue playground to be installed, it would be highly irresponsible to place it in a small, already highly utilised and cherished segment of Mountain View Estate.

Instead a perfect alternative, in the view of most people with whom I have liaised is the grounds of the new G.A.A. services on Cock Hill Road. A large, state-of-the-art, multi-functional parkland, playground and skating facility could be constructed here which meets the needs of all users. Please join in our public meeting on Wednesday 11th of February in Whites in Stamullen at 8 p.m. to further debate this topic. Together we can create a better solution.

Best,
James,

Playground proposal badly planned.

Playground at Mountain View

Dear Reader,

The construction of a playground in Mountain View has been tabled. Local residents have communicated their concerns as to the choice of location to me, and I listened. I hereby tender my response.

As a native, it is my opinion that this is a highly unsuitable location to situate said amenity as it will attract into a long established residential area, both undesirable and unnecessary noise, activity and potentially late night anti social behaviour including youth alcohol consumption and related unpleasant disturbance to local residents.

Residents of Mountain View have worked tirelessly in a collective fashion over the years to maintain their green space to a superior standard and this should be respected, not ignored in any new proposals.

Whilst I welcome and I am actively involved in all efforts to construct a long, long, long overdue playground or indeed any amenity for children, I strongly object to it being placed in Mountain View when there are an array of more appropriate alternatives which take into account the needs of local residents in the mentioned estate alongside the needs of our wider community.

We need a large, spacious, well equipped, safe playground and parkland to serve all residents.

Alternatives which comprise of some acreage as oppose to the consumption of a small corner of an already prized green space are available and I will invest my energy into bringing them to our community's attention over the coming period.

I am available to discuss this topic on any form of communication listed below, or better still in person. Name the time and place!

Sincerely yours,

James Carey
